Extreme Winter Event at Harry Rosen

Canadian Travel and Tourism News
October 27, 2009
A special event celebrating extreme winter adventure and extreme winter gear will be held at two Harry Rosen locations in Toronto on October 30th and 31st.

HARRY ROSEN HOSTS "EXTREME" EVENT

Meet Extreme Adventure Runner Ray Zahab and "The Extremist" Dani Reiss, President & CEO of Canada Goose

TORONTO (October 27, 2009) - Harry Rosen Inc, Canada's leading luxury men's wear retailer, will host an "extreme" event, an opportunity to meet extreme adventure runner Ray Zahab and "The Extremist" Dani Reiss, President & CEO of Canada Goose, the leading Canadian manufacturer of down-insulated outerwear for extreme climates, on Friday, October 30th at Harry Rosen Yorkdale from 6-8pm and Saturday, October 31st at Harry Rosen Bloor from 1-4pm.

At the in-store event, customers will have the opportunity to meet Ray Zahab and learn about his world record trek to the South Pole and his recent i2P Youth Expedition across Baffin Island; meet Dani Reiss and discover what's behind the highly sought after, Canadian-made outerwear brand Canada Goose; and receive a special gift with purchase of Canada Goose outerwear.

Ray Zahab took up running in 2004 and since then has won numerous ultra-marathons. In January 2009, he set a world record when he and two others trekked the 680 miles (1100km) from Hercules Inlet on Antarctica's Ronne Ice Shelf to the South Pole in 33 days, 23 hours and 55 minutes. Zahab also made history in 2007 by running 4660 miles (7500km) across the entire Sahara Desert raising awareness for clean-water initiatives in Africa. Oscar winning director James Moll turned the journey into a documentary entitled Running The Sahara, which was narrated by Oscar winning actor and producer Matt Damon. Most recently, Ray and five youth ambassadors completed a grueling 100km trek across Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic as part of impossible2Possible (i2P), a non-profit organization founded by Ray whose focus is raising awareness among youth for various social and environmental issues.

Dani Reiss was named one of Canada's Top 40 Business Leaders Under 40 in 2008. He attributes much of his success over the past eleven years to his extreme belief that made-in-Canada matters, and his vision to keep the brand authentic by refusing to move the company's production base from Canada, a strategy that has helped position Canada Goose among the leaders in its category. "We are so pleased to be able to introduce our customers to Ray and Dani - two accomplished gentlemen who embody our new confidence campaign and are living proof that you can do anything you set your mind to," states Larry Rosen, CEO and Chairman of Harry Rosen Inc. "Canada Goose is an iconic Canadian brand and success story that we are proud to support at our stores."

Ray wore a specially developed Canada Goose parka on his trek to the South Pole, and his entire team was outfitted in Canada Goose products when they raced across Baffin Island.
